TUES. - Today we took a ride to see people doing "Zip Lines" They wear harnesses & are hooked to a cable which is stretched across a canyon and they walk across a long suspension bridge also across a canyon.(see pictures)It was amazing to watch, but "not my cup of tea". Richard said he would like to try it, if he had someone to go with him, but I'm glad he didn't. It really scared me. It was hot out, so when we got back to the RV, we went to the pool. Later we took a bike ride around the campsite. Several RVer's have already left. It seems the summer mts. are the slow mts. here at the campsite. People come down here for the winter, but leave before summer because it gets very hot & humid here in the summer.
WED. Today we spent the day at our "regular" beach. When we got to the beach, the water was in high tide & almost up to the parking area. I thought low tide was in the morning & high tide in the evening, but we found out that the tide changes on about a 6 hr. rotation. And sure enough at around 2:30 p.m. the tide started to go out for low tide. It really is amazing to watch. Also we had a treat today. We saw what we thought was going to be a wedding right on the beach near where we were. They had music playing & a person (minister or justice of peace - we don't know which) in a long robe & a bride in a wedding dress & a barefoot groom . We were close enough to hear what they were saying & realized it was a renewal of vows. The couple had been married for 17 years. Their 2 daughters were the bridesmaids & their son about 11 or 12 years, walked his mom to the circle of flowers where they performed the ceremony.(see picture) They had family & friends there & the people on the beach also. Of course Richard got right up there to take pictures -(I pretended not to know him! Ha-Ha) He actually went up the bride & asked her if he could take pictures - she said of course. It was neat to watch. Afterwards they walked up to one of hotels where they probably had a reception - everyone else on the beach went back to swimming & sun bathing like before , oh well, this is Florida!
THURS. - It was a little cooler today, so we took a 2 hr. ride to Tampa, Fl. Downtown Tampa reminded me of downtown Chicago - large buildings, very busy & a lot of traffic. We decided to go to the Tampa Aquarium which is huge. It is really nice, a lot to see. We also went on a 2 hr. boat cruise in Tampa Bay which was very interesting. We saw dolphins playing in the water & a bird haven island, and several working boats. The speaker in the boat gave a lot of interesting history about Tampa Bay. We also saw a Carnival Pleasure ship leaving the pier. It was about 10 stories high! There were a lot of people standing on the decks, waving goodbye. We got back around 6:30, so we decided to treat ourselves to a restaurant meal. We went to a Denny's. The food was o.k., but we felt rather expensive & the restaurant was very loud, so it really wasn't much of a treat. (pictures will be posted tomorrow - having trouble putting them on the computer)
