April 9,2016......Saturday

First of all I forgot to mention yesterday that well on the golf course, we were able to see the rocket launch! It was from a distance, but we were able to follow the white vapor from it into the clouds. Of all the times we've been in Florida, this was the first time we actually saw a rocket go up, so it was really special!

 

Well Saturday was a very busy day. We started out the morning by having breakfast made by Richard out on our griddle, bacon & eggs. It was quite yummy! (See picture) . Then Jan & I went to a large farmers market in the town of Winter Park, about 1/2 hour from Orlando. We did a lot of walking, but there were some good food booths. Richard & Jack went to some sort of Jeep rally. They said it was pretty good......it must have been, because they spent about 3hours there. Later I did our laundry while Jan did some gardening. Richard decided to do a little fishing, but after no "nibbles " he realized he had the wrong type of fishing rod & reel. I don't know anything about that, to me a fishing pole is a fishing pole. I didn't think the fish would know the difference, oh well..... We relaxed by the lake then went to church. After church we treated Jan & Jack to dinner to thank them for their hospitality. We went to a restaurant called "Two-J's" we were there last year and the food was really good. It was when we were leaving that I realized I didn't have my drivers license....oh my goodness!! I emptied out my purse, but no luck. I realized I must have lost it at the farmers market. When we got back, Jan found the web site that she had looked up the hours of the market at. There was a phone number and a website. So I left messages at both. Hopefully some honest person will turn it into the city, if not the DMV will be my first stop when we get home. Luckily I don't do much, if any, driving while we are here. Richard drives wherever we go. (He thinks I would get lost if I went by myself.....he is probably right.i

 

April 7 & 8....Thursday & Friday

Thursday was a laid back day. Jan & I did more shopping (of course) Richard and Jack decided to go with us and they checked out some sports stores and auto stores. We spent later down by the lake and played cards in the evening. 

Friday was a busy day. We went to see Jack & Jan's daughter Jacy, she lives in a town (which I forgot the name of) about 45 min from Orlando. We had a nice visit. Later we went to play a round of golf. It was a great golf course which had a lake right along the course with boaters and water skiers! The four of us did the first nine holes...I did a scramble with Richard because I am not a strong golfer, so after we tee off, I play from where his ball lands. The three of them golfed the back nine...we had a great time, in fact they were not able to finish the last two holes because the course was closing. We were the last carts to come in, but a fun time was had by all! By the way, Richard got in on the " Red Nose Day " with a donation.

April 6,2016...... Wednesday

It was a beautiful,sunny day, so we decided to go golfing. It was Richard and my first time out on a golf course for this season, so we didn't expect much. I realized I had forgot my putter at home. I couldn't use one of theirs  because first I am a lot shorter than they are and more importantly I am left handed. So Richard went to the clubhouse to see if we could rent one. Surprisingly they had one I could use for free. Actually Richard  ended up with a pretty good score, me not so much. I was beat after 9 holes but Richard, Jack and Jan golfed the back nine and I just drove the cart. We had a really good time.

April 5, 2016..... Tuesday

Richard and Jack got the motorhome all hooked up in their driveway. Jan & I decided to go do some shopping. The guys spent time on the lake (which their house is on) they drove the kayaks and later Richard tried his hand at fishing (no luck) of course he was using artificial worms. I said it would have to be pretty stupid fish to nibble at a worm that wasn't even real!! He said next time he'll try corn...I didn't know fish ate corn, but of course a fisher I am not!

April 3,2016 ...Sunday

Had good driving weather again. I didn't remember Alabama being so hilly. Again we drove around 300 miles. Our next campsite was in Bainbridge, GA. On Lake Seminole. It is a Core of Enginers Çampground which we had stayed at before. It is a pretty lake. The water was very calm, hardly a ripple. Richard tried to get his fishing pole ready (I can't believe he wants to fish), but the reel was broken. There was a beautiful sunset. 

April 2 2016 - Saturday

A very Happy "23d" Birthday to our grandson Jacob!! We had a good travel day..sun and low wind. Traffic was fairly light through Nashville, which is usually busy..probably because it was Saturday. We left KY,through Tenn to Alabama. Our next campsite was Cullman RV Park in Cullman,AL,285 miles and 6 driving hours. Thank goodness we were able to get a site because the Çampground was filled, being the weekend, there were a lot of families, in fact RV's that came in after us were turned away. We arrived late afternoon, so of course Richard took a walk around "visiting" He also met a new friend which he took a picture of...a white horse! He actually got pretty close to it, leave it to Richard!!

April , 2016... Friday

Well Pauper's Pride is on the road again! We are on our way back down to sunny Florida. We hit rain off & on for the first several hours. Extremely windy... Makes for intense driving conditions in a motorhome! About 4 hours driving and we hear a loud "swish, swish" kind of noise. My first thought was that we blew a tire! I saw out the window that the awing on the motorhome came down, and it is a huge awing!! The strong winds were whipping it about. Luckily we were on a city road, not on the  expressway. It was a stroke of luck that we were near a truck repair shop with a circle drive. (You can't just pull over or turn around a 30 foot RV with a car being towed) how that awing got loose is still a mystery because it is locked in place. Richard had to flip the lock to unlock it so we could get it rolled back up in place. It was really cold out and so windy, it was hard to get it back up and locked in place,but we did it. One side of the awing got several rips and will probably have to be repaired. A funny side note..... There were two guys outside by the trucks that looked like straight out of the movie "deliverance " with two not so friendly looking dogs! As it turned out the dogs were very friendly sniffing around our legs while we were trying to deal with the awning. The guys just stood there and watched us...duh! We continued on our way and made Padacuh, KY after 8 driving hours and 316 miles. We spent the night at Victory RV Park  which we had stayed at before.
