May 5,2016...Thursday
Well another Pauper's Pride adventure has come to an end : ( . This one was a little shorter than previous trips ( 35 days). We had about a 5hr drive home from Whittingham, Il. The weather was sunny and clear, but chilly. We still saw and did a lot. Wish the weather had been a little warmer for more beach time, but we enjoyed ourselves anyway! It's good to get away and relax, but it's also good to get back home. Again we thank God for a safe & healthy vacation. We thank you for " being along" with us via this journal/blog. Until Pauper's Pride is back on the road again..... So long, Rich & Aud

May 4, 2016....... Wednesday
JWell we had a short travel day today, only 105 miles, about 3 hrs. We crossed the KY state line into Illinois! (Unfortunately I missed the IL state sign) we arrived at our next campsite in Whittingham,IL called Gun Creek. Again a site we stayed at last year, right on Rend Lake. It is right next to a golf course we golfed at also. That is why Richard planned our trip home so that we would arrive here early in the day to play the course.....which is what we did. The weather was a little chilly, but sunny. It was quite windy, but we had a great time anyway. Later we stopped at a winery nearby. We had another good meal at a restaurant called Burtons which we were told was good, which it was. The restaurant is famous for their "white pie" it is a cream pie, hard to describe the flavor, but is was really good. Richard didn't care for it, but of course he doesn't like cream pies anyway, but he sure enjoyed his meatloaf dinner! This is the last night of our vacation : ( ...... Tomorrow, after almost 6 weeks, God willing, we will arrive safely home!
May 3, 2016 ...... Tuesday
We left Cullman, Al , drove the width of TENN to our next site Victory RV Çampground in Paducah,KY. About 6 hrs driving, 314 miles. Again a site we stayed at on our way south. We arrived early afternoon after getting an early start in the morning . We had good travel weather again. After we checked in and got hooked up, we decided to go into town and treat ourselves to a good sit down meal at a restaurant. A couple told us about a small family owned one called "The Gold Rush Cafe" and we did have a good meal. Afterward we took a walk down by the river walk which runs along the Ohio River. There was a cement wall along the walk which had beautiful painted murals on it showing the history of the city. ( see pics ) and an old time train. Since we couldn't get good tv reception, we played cards.

May 2, 2016 ....Monday
Got an early start on our way home. We drove 315 miles, about 6 hours. But we went through a time change and gained an hour. We spent the night in Cullman, AL. Again at a campsite we stayed at on our way down. We just got checked in, and hooked up and it started to pour. It rained off & on almost all night. Surprisingly TV reception was pretty good.
May 1,2016 .... Sunday
Well our 2016 vacation is coming to the end : ( . Today we start our journey back north. This morning we leave the "J & J" Resort. We had a great time with the "owners" and again we thank them for their hospitality. We had good travel weather, sunny & hot...a perfect beach day unfortunately !! I love the Florida beaches, but I wouldn't want to live here, I like the change of seasons. We spent the night in Bainbridge, GA at the COE campsite we stayed at on the way south.
