March 31 - Tuesday

Well we finally got a sunny, warm beach day, which we took advantage of. In fact we got to the beach ( which is about 10 min from the park) around 10:00 in the morning, so we got one of the closest parking spaces. There was not a cloud in the sky & just a slight breeze, but we thought the water was cold. Of course there were a lot of kids in the water, I guess it's that young blood. But we enjoyed the day, soaking up the sun & walking along the beach. When we got back to the park, as long as we had our bathing suits on, we went to the park pool. There is a beautiful pool here. The park is only about three years old, so everything is still new. We should sleep good tonight (of course Richard never has a problem sleeping, even after taking an hour nap on the beach!)

March 30 - Monday

Our first day at St Rosa RV Resort was a little too chilly for the beach. So we spent the day scouting the area. We found the church, St Sylvestor about 5min. From the park, Camping World, in case we should need something and took a ride down the peninsula that runs along the beach, about 20 miles, & very scenic. At the end of it is a national park and an old Army Fort, Fort Pickens which you can tour, which we did. There also was a museum we toured.

March 27,28 & 29 - Friday,Saturday & Sunday

After a fun-filled week, we said goodbye to Jack & Jan and left Orlando. We started out for Destin,Fł. It was a clear travel day. It was too far to make it in one day, so we had reservations back at East Bank Çampground on Lake Seminole where we stayed before Orlando, but because it was the weekend, the campgrond was filled. The only spot we could reserve was for two nights, so we took it. It was really chilly out and especially by the water. We were only able to get 4 TV stations and two of them were not in English, so we ate supper & played cards.

Saturday Richard went up on the roof and tried to adjust the TV antenna, since other campers said they were getting a lot more channels. He tried several things, but still could only get the same 4 channels. We found a church and they had a 5:00 mass. As soon as we entered the church, I realized we had been here 2years ago. It is a very small church and was about 40 min. From the Çampground .it was dusk by the time we got back.

Sunday morning we started out again for Destin where we will be for the next 30 days. We had made our reservations last fall. We arrived early afternoon and got all checked in. We are staying at St. Rosa RV Resort. We found this place last year. It is fairly new and on the water. The place is filled, that's why we had to make reservations 6 mts in advance.

March 25 - 26 Wednesday & Thursday

Since we will be leaving Orlando on Friday we decided to get in more golfing. Wednesday we did 9 holes. While we were on the golf course,we were also watching the Sky because we knew that they were launching a rocket at the space center around 2:35 & Jan said they usually can see it. But all we were able to see was the white vapor as it came out from behind a cloud, but it was a neat thing to see anyway. We came home and had a cookout and played cards.

Thursday morning we did chores, laundry etc. then we got a tee time for 18 holes. We did the front 9 holes and when we just were finishing hole 10, it started raining, so we decided to wait it out. Then it poured (needless to say we got wet) but then the sun came back out and it really got humid, but we had a good time anyway. I only did the front 9, I can't manage 18  because it takes me more swings on each hole, so my arms are tired after 9 holes. On  one hole after Richard teed off & went to do his next hit, as he swung his club, the ball went one way and his club flew out of his hand the other way! It was soooo funny!  It even surprised him, he said it just slipped out of his hand as he swung. We all were pretty tired so we made it an early night.

March 24 - Tuesday

We had noticed the other day that our water heater was leaking a little. It is the original water heater in the motorhome so it is 14years old. We had planned on having it replaced when we got home, but being that we will still be down here for the month of April , Richard decided to have it replaced here. He called a camping world Friday in Orlando and to our surprise they had the model we needed in stock. They could install it on Tuesday.  So we got up early and Jack drove with Richard in the motorhome and I followed in my car with Jan. They said they would have it done by the end of the day. As we were driving back, Richard said as they were driving down the road Jack & Jan live on he put on the windshield wipers and something flew off them. Then I remembered I had put my pool shoes on the wipers when we came back from the pool Sunday to dry! And they were my new pool shoes! He said he knew about where they flew off. As we got on that road we were looking for them and sure enough there they were, one in the middle of the road and the other on the side of the road! Richard got out and ran to get them. It is a busy road and I thought for sure they woulld be ruined from being run over by cars for several hours. But they were in perfect condition!! Well we were waiting for the motorhome to be done, Richard & Jack went to the driving range and Jan & I went "shop bumming ".

March 23 - Monday

We woke to a rainy day. So we decided to go on a road trip. We wanted to check out an RV Resort in Bonita Springs. Jack was feeling a little under the weather, so Richard, Jan & I went. It was a 384 mile trip one way, about 41/2 hrs. It was pouring rain almost the whole way there. We found the resort And got some information re: rates ect. There also is a beach nearby which we stopped to check out. Being that we usually come to FŁ March-April we wanted to check out some areas farther south where the weather and water is warmer that time of year. It was a long day. One thing I realized is that 41/2 hrs in the motorhome is a lot more comfortable than that amount of time riding in a car. We left around 11:00 in the morning and got back around 8:00 in the evening.

March 20 - 22 Friday- Sunday

We had a busy weekend. Friday we went golfing. This was our first time out this year. Jack & Jan had been golfing several times since they have been here in FL since January. It was a beautiful day, but I was only able to do 9 holes, the others did 18 holes , but we enjoyed the day. After supper we played cards and called it a nearly night since everyone was tired from golfing.

Saturday we went to a bluegrass festival in Christmas, FŁ. We enjoyed listening to several really good bands. We ate delicious handmade ice cream. They also had a craft fair there. We came home & went to church and then out for pizza at a little Italian restaurant. It was really good pizza. We came home and played Mexican train domino game.

Sunday was really hot, Richard & Jack decided to watch the NASCAR race on TV. Jan and I went to park district pool. We were there last year when we were down here. The water was very refreshing. After a nice supper we again ended the evening with a game of cards.

March 19- Thursday

Happy "70"th Birthday to Richard! Starting a new century in life!! First thing on the agenda was the television. Richard &Jack went to get a new antenna, while Jan & I went shopping, of course! The guys got a new antenna installed, but the TV still didn't work after all that!! After eliminating everything else that could be the cause, they finally discovered the problem.... We somehow forgot that we took the batteries out of the remote when we put the RV in storage for the winter!! Yép Richard put new batteries in & sure enough the TV went on!! Oh well, another "senior moment " !! So he took down the new antenna and put the old one (which actually isn't that old since we bought it last year) back up and the TV now works just fine. Hopefully the store will give a refund. Richard wanted to go out for his birthday for liver & onions. We went to a restaurant called TooJays. We had a nice meal. When we got back Richard opened his presents  & we sang Happy Birthday with a candle on a cherry pie. Then we played cards. He said he enjoyed his Special Day and thanks everyone for all the facebook Happy Birthday wishes.

March 18 - Wednesday

The weather has been very good to us so far. We left GA about 9:30. We had a smooth drive to Orlando, just a little heavy traffic going through the main town area at rush hour. We arrived at the "J&J Resort" at about 4:30 (there was a 1 hour ahead time change) it was a 300 mile drive. The first thing we saw was a Vacancy sign on their mailbox & Jack & Jan waiting for us with a warm welcome! We haven't seen them since January when they left home., so it was good to see them again. Jack and Richard got the RV and the tow dolly set while Jan & I caught up on life. Richard went up on the roof and disconnected the TV  antenna which hopefully is the television problem. We'll find out tomorrow. Then we went for a boat ride on their lake, but ran out of gas in the middle of the lake. Luckily Jack also has a trolling motor on the boat, the lake was very calm, so we had a nice leisurely ride back to their dock. Jan had prepared a delicious meal for our arrival and we called it an early night because Richard was tired from the drive.

March 17-Tuesday

On our way to our next Çampground, we stopped at a camping World in Dothan,AL and got some kind of reception box that Richard thought might be the TV problem. We arrived at Eastbank Georgia Çampground on Lake Semonile around 3:00. It is a very scenic place. One side of the huge lake is Georgia and the other side is Florida. We were on the Georgia side. Richard worked on the TV again, but the part we bought did not fix the problem. He thinks now it might be the antenna. Our next stop is in Orlando at Jack & Jan's, which we call the J&J Resort, he will take the antenna down & get a new one. Since we will be gone until May, we certainly have to have television !! It was a very relaxing evening sitting by the water watching the ducks

Sunday - don't

I haven't posted for a few days (my bad)... So to catch up... Sunday evening after we got the RV all hooked up, Richard hooked up the tv & we got a surprise, it would not work! Oh no!!! I would not make a very good tent camper, I like to have the comforts of home with me! After fiddleing with it for a while, He  said it seemed to be an electrical problem, but the DVD worked so we watched a movie instead.

Monday- March 16

Monday was another beautiful travel day. We got to our next campsite in Briierfield, Al at about 5:00 after a long 370 miles. We got the electric & water hooked up and  discovered another problem...the hydraulic jacks would not go down. Luckily we were on fairly level ground. This is a huge problem because the jacks level the motorhome when parked & the refrigerator has to be level to work properly. Richard could not understand this because they worked perfectly fine the night before. He said we will have to deal with it in the morning. Since we didn't have television we played cards for a while, but Richard was really tired being that he does all the driving. There is no way he would trust me to drive  (I'm sure everyone knows my driving history) not that I would even want to! It's like driving a train...31 feet of motorhome pulling my car on a tow dolly. I know I couldn't handle that!! In the morning we got a good surprise. Richard said he didn't sleep very well because the jack problem was really bothering him, then he remembered...... The jacks will only go down when the emergency brake is engaged. Being tired last night, he forgot to put on the emergency brake! That's not like him to forget something like that, but he was really tired so we chalked it up to one of those "senior moments" (after all we are not spring chickens, ha-ha. ) Anyway the jacks are working fine now and a big problem was averted.  I know one thing.. We won't forget again, at least not until next year! Now we have to get the TV working. Speaking of "senior moments" as soon as I remember how to post pictures, I will!!

March 15, Sunday .... 2015

Well after our long cold, snowy winter..Paupers Pride is back on the road & Florida bound again!! It was a beautiful travel day, sunny and no wind. We left home about 9:30 a.m. And arrived at our first campsite ..Victory RV Park in Paducah, KY around 5:00 p.m. This is our 5th trip to Florida and it is the first time we left home without wearing winter coats. Of course in the past we left in middle or late Feb Richard was ready to leave about 8:30 this morning, but I of course had to check and recheck that everything was taken care of in the house (even tho I love to travel in the motorhome, & love the beaches of Florida, I still have a hard time leaving our house) We took Jasper on his vacation over to Nancy's by his "cousins"  Tony and the new little puppy Bella. Tony was fine and was licking Jasper's fur, but little Bella kept grawlling at him. Nancy said Bella will come around and while we were on the road she sent us a little video of the three dogs ..Jasper was just standing there & Tony was again licking his fur & Bella was jumping on him trying to get him to play ha-ha. So I'll sign off till tomorrow.
